Terms of Service
Last updated: August 23, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Echelon application (the "Service"), operated by us ("we", "us"). By creating an account, connecting your Gmail account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
Echelon connects to your Gmail account with read-only access, identifies transaction-notification emails from supported banks, and extracts transaction data so it can be organized and categorized for you. Echelon is a personal finance tool, not a bank, and is not affiliated with any bank or financial institution referenced in the Service.
Accounts
- You must provide accurate information and keep your account credentials secure.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must be legally able to enter into these Terms to use the Service.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
- Use the Service to connect a Gmail account you are not authorized to access.
No financial advice
Echelon organizes and displays information derived from your own emails. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and nothing in the Service should be treated as such. Transaction data is extracted automatically and may contain errors; you are responsible for verifying it against your bank's official records before relying on it.
Your data
Our collection and use of your information is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. You can revoke Echelon's access to your Gmail account at any time; see the Privacy Policy for how.
Service availability
We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued, in whole or in part, at any time.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Automated parsing of bank emails may occasionally misclassify or miss transactions.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and revoke Gmail access at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
